It is important for us to see your child healthy to ensure adequate growth, nutrition, and promotion of a healthy lifestyle! Below is what to expect at each well child check up. Check ups are scheduled at newborn, 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 months, 2, 2.5, and 3 years of age. After age 3 years, check-ups are scheduled yearly. Newborn Visit and 1 Month Visit
Congratulations on the birth of your child! This is an exciting and exhausting time for you and your family. We wish to check in with you within the first week of birth, establish your child as our patient, and ensure your baby has a positive start in the world. During your newborn visit, we will weigh your baby and measure height and head circumference. A nurse will obtain a full health history of your family and the pregnancy of your child. One of our clinicians will then perform a complete physical examination and discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding growth and development. You may need to be seen for weight checks until we are reassured your child is gaining weight appropriately.
2 Months - 9 Months Visits
You and your baby may have developed a nice daily and weekly routine by now. We will see you at 2, 4, 6, and 9 months for well child check-ups. At each of these check-ups, we will weigh and measure your baby, discuss any concerns you may have regarding growth and development, and perform a complete physical examination of your baby. Development is extremely important during this phase of your baby's life and we will have you fill out an Ages and Stages Questionnaire which evaluates development at each age. Vaccinations also begin at 2 months and your baby will receive vaccines as recommended by the Center for Disease Control at each well child check-up. At the 9 month visit, we will also perform a toe prick to obtain blood for a Complete Blood Count to check iron levels.
12 Month Visit
Your baby is now a year old! Congratulations! The 12 month check-up includes weighing and measuring your child's height and head circumference. The clinician will perform a complete physical examination and answer any questions you may have about your child's health. The clinician will continue to monitor your child's development. Your child will receive vaccines as recommended by the Center for Disease Control along with a toe stick for labs and lead evaluation.
